Klay Thompson Shines in Mavericks Preseason Debut with 10 Points
Klay Thompson made his court debut with the Dallas Mavericks on Thursday night during a preseason game, showcasing his skills. The Dallas Mavericks suffered a disheartening defeat against the Utah Jazz, who defeated them 107-102, despite his 10 points.
Throughout his NBA career, Thompson's sole goal has been to contend for the Golden State Warriors. Except for the seasons of 2019-20 and 2020-21, which were marred by injuries, Thompson has played for the Warriors for an amazing 11 seasons. He has contributed significantly to the team's four NBA championship victories.
As of the current season, he is sixth all-time among the NBA's greatest players with 2,481 three-pointers made. He also made three fantastic long-range shots in his much anticipated Dallas debut exhibition.
Thompson made three of nine shots overall, including an unexpected three of five from beyond the arc, within the course of eighteen minutes.
There have been and will continue to be many amazing NBA preseason debuts, of which this was just one. Karl-Anthony Towns has already participated in two games for New York between these two events, and on Wednesday, Chris Paul will make his San Antonio debut. Moreover, anticipation is growing for Paul George's Friday Philadelphia exhibition opening.
The opportunity to sign a six-team contract with the Mavericks this summer, which would have been the first in NBA history, was eagerly embraced by Thompson. Among the prominent teams engaged in this transaction were Denver, Golden State, Charlotte, Minnesota, Philadelphia, and Charlotte.
The Warriors have previously said that they would retire Thompson's No. 11 jersey. Thompson is now wearing the No. 31 jersey for Dallas, while Kyrie Irving is wearing the No. 11 jersey for the Mavericks.
